Instead, i had no chance to try Prodeus, but taking in consideration that it is in pre-alpha, it does not look that bad to me that HUD is pretty big (useless the player is almost blind ) enemies are a bit too slow, sounds and animations can surely be improved (i thought that those animations are less than 30 frames honestly lol). I think that " De gustibus non est disputandum", both the games are not completed yet and is too early to let out free considerationss (bad or good ones).Thx to a friend of mine, i had a nice taste of Ion Maiden 1 year ago or so, on his PC, as i remember it was in Beta and for me it was already quite completed and amazing as it was, fast paced, hard to play on the higest difficulty (sorry, i can't remember the name right now) and the Bombs were so damn funny to use and, imho it does not need modern graphics, look at Cuphead, it had a lot of success. I am going to hard core pass the word around as much as I can, the proj deserves massive respect. Man, the quality is off the chain you guys should be really God damn proud of what you accomplished. Prodeus looks freaking incredible, you can totally tell you guys are not just Devs but are also hard core gamers for real / legit \m/ it show in the game. ![]() Holy Shit!!! OMG, this makes Ion Maiden look like garbage, I wish I could refund it and give you the money I spent on it. I really like that they are going for what they want instead of abiding by the so-called rules. Not everything has to be 100% retro, as you've already pointed out that would get old real fast. The level design is old school with hints of Doom 2016 (mainly the way they seem to handle enemy spawns and monster closets), the shooting is a mix of the "point-and-click" mechanics of old FPS and the ADS focused modern stuff etc., that sort of duality is what the graphics are going for too. The aim here is not to make a retro shooter but to make a nice indie FPS that mixes the old with the new. It has multiple purposes though: you will be able to choose between the 2D sprite aesthetic and the original 3D models in the final game as shown here:Īnd if you really look at it without being biased towards authentic retro graphics / a retro engine (that happens a lot around here to nobody's surprise ) I think what you'll find is that the visuals make sense in the context of the game. ![]() I think the tech is neat the way it portrays models as low-res low-framerate sprite animations, but to actually use it in the game to evoke "retro" is weird, yes.

![]() Staffers making less than $65,000 a year will see their salaries trimmed 5 percent, according to the Daily Beast, which was first to report the cuts. Peretti broke the news in a memo Wednesday, saying salaries will be slashed in April and May on a sliding scale based on salary. ![]() ![]() ![]() In its bid to avoid layoffs, BuzzFeed is cutting staffers’ pay by as much as 25 percent while Chief Executive Jonah Peretti will forgo pay as long as the coronavirus racks the economy. Cable news networks surged by 73 percent, compared with the same week in 2019, while the big four broadcast networks increased nearly 19 percent versus that same week a year ago.īut while the interest in coronavirus news is boosting some digital subscriptions, “it is nowhere near matching the advertising pullback,” Chavern said. The ad shrinkage comes as the coronavirus pandemic boosts the news business in terms of overall eyeballs.Īccording to Comscore, in-home data usage was up 38 percent in the March 15-17 period, compared with the same weekend a year ago, and national TV viewership surged. Ken Harding, a senior managing partner of FTI Consulting, thinks it may be a long downward trend: “Print advertising will likely see a more detrimental impact from reduced advertising spend in the next 18 months.” “The SBA’s definition of a small business in the newspaper industry is under 1,000 employees, and most newspapers are under that figure,” said David Chavern, head of the News Media Alliance, a trade association. But small papers are eligible to apply for general small-business funds. Unlike Canada, which contained a specific carve-out for local media, there is no such funding in the US stimulus package. The Texas Tribune and ProPublica said they were hiring four new hires for a joint reporting team.Īnd Steve Waldman of Report for America is urging the government to dramatically increase spending on local public health advertising: “As the bottom is falling out for local news organizations now - at the worst possible moment - the government can do something to help.” Aside from the potential government bailout, Twitter has agreed to donate $1 million to journalism nonprofits. “Local media is risking it all on the front line of the COVID-19 ,” said the Save Journalism Project. The cuts come as demand for coronavirus news skyrockets - a job that requires many reporters to continue to venture outside to do reporting. Voice Media, which has weeklies in Phoenix, Denver, Houston and Miami, cut staff salaries by 25 percent and executive salaries by 35 percent. In Pittsburgh, the 175-year-old Pittsburgh Catholic weekly shut down. The Austin Chronicle is moving from a weekly publication to one that publishes every other week, while the Portland Mercury in Oregon and The Stranger in Seattle suspended their print editions and laid off dozens of staffers. The Washingtonian stopped using freelancers, laid off all its fellows and instituted a 10 percent pay cut for surviving staffers. News advertising has plummeted between 20 and 30 percent in the past two weeks compared to a year ago, according to the International News Media Association. Medication is generally considered to be the cornerstone of treatment for bipolar disorder however, combining medication with other types of therapy and support can help you to get and stay well. Treatment with mood stabilizers can reduce symptoms of bipolar disorder and increase people’s ability to pursue their interests and participate more fully in their relationships. Mood stabilizers can help to keep the mood of a person with bipolar disorder within this balanced range. With bipolar disorder, people can also have periods where their mood is balanced. People with bipolar disorder usually experience these extremes at different times, although the two mood states can occur together (known as a mixed state). The term “bipolar” refers to the two extremes of mood: mania and depression. This risk is lessened if the person is also taking a mood stabilizer. Antidepressants may also lead to more frequent mood episodes, known as rapid cycling. Antidepressant medications can be effective however, they must never be used alone with bipolar disorder as they can also cause a person who is depressed to switch into mania. Because of this, other psychiatric medications such as antipsychotics are often used in the early stages of treatment to treat acute mania.ĭepression in bipolar disorder can be hard to distinguish from other forms of depression. ![]() Mood stabilizers can take up to several weeks to reach their full effect. ![]() ![]() These drugs can help reduce mood swings and prevent manic and depressive episodes. In today's case, their article on the subject talks about how quickly they mitgated this issue, but it makes it seem like the issue is something that requires active attack and that they have no reports of such a thing happening. While some people (including a developer at Google's Project Zero) have claimed CloudFlare to have an "excellent reputation for transparency", I would instead claim that it is mostly the case that CloudFlare likes to look "triumphant": their reporting of issues is extremely detailed when it comes to wide-scale service and software bugs (ones that affect everyone, not just them), and their reporting of governmental data requests is absolutely admirable but their reporting tends to talk up their involvement in helping others (as has been the case with Internet-scale routing issues and denial of service attacks), puts them at the center of PR that had little to do with them (as was the case with Heartbleed, where they even were assuring people that private key data could not be leaked: they were later proven wrong), and downplaying their own issues (as we saw yet again with what some are calling Cloudbleed). All I managed to get from Cloudflare were replies on forums that insisted their somehow not noticing this serious of an issue was OK as it only applied to websites that opted in to this mechanism (as if they were "asking for it" P). AFAIK, there was never any disclosure or post-mortem from them about the issue. This issue was active for the better part of a day, until I managed to teach people at CloudFlare what was wrong with their code. I wrote this in 2012, when CloudFlare (an almost awkwardly popular CDN) introduced a bug into websites they hosted using some of their "advanced features" via injected JavaScript that managed to not just break the website but lock up entire web browers by tickling a scheduler starvation bug in WebCore. The reason why so many distillers are going this route? In part, they’re simply taking a cue from the food world, which has embraced new and unusual flavors. Or think of orange-flavored Irish whiskey. Think of Scotch finished in specialty casks (or, for that matter, tequila finished in Scotch casks). Moreover, there’s been a fair bit of experimentation in the spirits industry in recent years. Bailey is referring to pechuga, a style of the Mexican spirit that can be flavored with chicken, duck or maybe even a wild rabbit. “Mezcal has been doing it for years,” says Jared Bailey, a spirits expert who’s general manager of New York’s Soho Cigar Bar. For starters, it’s not quite as new an idea as you might think, say those in the booze world. Still, it’s important to bring a bit of context to the crustacean-flavored bourbon. Tamworth offered Crab Trapper as a limited-edition item, but distiller Matt Power expects the company will start producing more. ![]() I get it: There’s a shock factor here that’s hard to ignore. So it’s perhaps no surprise that the green-crab whiskey has become a viral sensation, covered in outlets ranging from Food & Wine to CBS News. Why not a whiskey?Īll this makes for one heckuva story. ![]() Which is why some smart folks, including a dedicated team at the University of New Hampshire that worked with Tamworth, are looking for other edible uses. Unlike their blue-colored brethren, green crabs don’t yield a lot of meat, so there’s no real market for them - at least as a main course - and thus no way to keep the population in check. Except in Maryland, you’ll find blue crabs, whereas the Tamworth whiskey is made with green crabs, an invasive species that has become a problem along the New England coast. In all, it’s like having a messy ol’ dinner of Maryland-style crabs, but in not-so-messy liquid form. There’s also a lingering note of savory spice, reminiscent of the classic Old Bay seasoning. ![]() The crab flavor is, however, smartly balanced by the sweetness of the whiskey. You definitely get a mouthful of crab here - Tamworth says its recipe calls for creating a shellfish stock and then blending that with its bourbon. Or to quote my reaction: “You’ve got to be (bleeping) kidding.”īut I soon took my sample glass down to the distillery’s riverbank area and discovered the odd pleasures of crustacean-flavored bourbon. I had known about Tamworth from previously sampling its venison-flavored whiskey, aptly called Deerslayer, but when an employee showed me the Crab Trapper, I had to do a double take. I had the whiskey last week when I was on vacation in the Granite State and visited the distillery in its namesake town - a picture-perfect community sandwiched between mountain and lakeside locales. ![]() ![]() This means that if you're going to the effort of setting up a dedicated email app for desktop or mobile-and maybe even paying for one-it had better get a few things right. We tried the latest products, including two cleaners, to find the best rain repellent. Whatever your opinion, there are clear advantages, especially on side glass or rear windows with no wipers. Yet even this is a problem for some, as removing the treatment can prove tricky. There’s no doubt that rain repellent lasts, with the sort of stamina bodywork waxes can only dream of. But critics can’t put up with the mist effect that follows each sweep of the wipers once a rain repellent’s been applied, or the vision in the wet after dark. This means you won’t need to use your car’s wipers so much, plus repellents can keep side and rear glass, and wing mirrors, cleaner for longer.
